Electric Prison (english below)

It was quiet here for a long time, far too long. But even a real Schluckspecht has to go on vacation. 😉

However, the tractor continues, don’t worry.

Das Motorschutzblech hat schon mal Platz genommen.

The engine shielding has already taken place.

Öffnungen für die Kabel. Ich hoffe da passt alles durch 😉

Openings for the cables. I hope everything fits through 😉

Alex verputzt noch den Deckel…..

Alex is grinding the lid …..

… so that we can finally check the optic. Did you catch me: certain similarities to the Green Monster are not accidental 😉

To ensure that the cover sits properly, the engine shield has a frame made from a U-profile.

There will be a sealing profile on the edge of the lid and the electrical prison should be quite tight.

If I hate one thing like the plague it is mess in switch boxes. Therefore, this is built up properly here. The cables get strain reliefs (the screen is then also immediately to ground) and everything is properly connected with Wago-terminals. So that you can quickly change a cable / sensor -if available- lever actuated clamps are used.

At this point, a huge thank you to our sponsor Elektro Bongard for the extensive material supply.

It is amazing how much clamps are needed 😉

Such a list to strike out is not bad … The EMU Black already has 63 outputs. There are also the terminals for the power supply. A proper CAN bus for communication between the EMU, EGT module and dashboard must be put in like a serial interface for the data logger. This is going to be exciting  😉

Die Halterung für den Akku wird angepasst….

The bracket for the battery is adjusted ….

…verschweißt…

…welded…

..und dann direkt mal ausprobiert. Sieht doch gut aus.

..and then tried it out. Looks good.

Es wird immer voller auf dem Blech….

It’s getting fuller on the sheet ….

Was mir den besseren Eindruck macht kommt rein 😉

Since I was not so sure about the low price of the relays whether I should install them, I had to take a quick look. There are still some from the Bosch coming in stock. What makes me the better impression is mounted  😉

After all, the relays make both the ignition and the injectors de-energized (emergency stop). I just don’t want to incorporate any sources of error.

The brass brushes are not so much a contribution to EMC shielding, but rather a fire barrier. 😉

Keine gute Kombination 😉

Was haben wir noch?

In order to avoid interference in the signals as much as possible, the power side and the signal side are separated from each other. As a reminder: There are certainly 80A at the top of the coil driver module, at the same time only a few hundred millivolts come from the VR sensor. Not a good combination 😉

What do we still have?

Alex is having fun with the turbo protection. I think the design is known from the little Schluckspecht.

For now we will take over the existing turbo protection and only adjust it a little. Later, much larger chargers are planned that would really not fit in there 😉

Well, the donuts don’t really fit that hot. So we put them aside for the larger chargers and make new ones out of smaller bows.

Mittels einer sinnreichen Installation wurde der Motor….

The engine was …

…wieder an seinen ursprünglichen Platz gezogen.

… moved back to its original place with a sensefull installation. This means that work on the new tank can also begin soon.

Soooooo, now the madness starts again. What the whole thing should be for, of course, I will not reveal yet 😉 😉

Stefan spielt mit Sand….

Stefan plays with sand …

… and old fire extinguishers and will be reminded very quickly …

… that is not to be trifled with liquid aluminum. Moisture on molds is just shit. That gives a huge boom and already 800 ° C hot aluminum flies around …. that wakes you up and also hurts quite a bit by the way.

Well, weeds don’t go away so easy and so after a surprising number of experiments …

…eine Vorrichtung fertig….

… one device was ready ….

… with which you can shoot several kilos of wetted sand in a bucket 😉 😉

This almost ends the post. As always, to get down something shallow:

Brackets for the engine shielding, made entirely without Sea and See (CNC), only with flex and drilling machine.

To get the pace off now …

Graugussklötze für ein Wahnsinnsprojekt!

In diesem Sinne: Bleibt gesund und bleibt dran!

Gray cast iron blocks for an amazing project!

In this sense: Stay healthy and stay tuned!
